Directsound doesnt work. Error msgs.

This is driving me slightly mad'r.

I have brought my pc to the country place hoping to do some work here but I didnt bring my Motu Firewire ASIO card.

I have uninstalled all my sound apps including Flowstone and Symthmaker.
Reinstalled drivers and what nots.
Pc sound works great with iTunes and vlc and others.

Everytime I try to use directsound from Synthmaker ( latest version) I get this error message.
Not only once but twice even...

Thanks but i dont have any. I have un installed all sequencers and other audioapps.
I uninstalled everything including SM, rebooted and reinstalled only SM and still get the same problem running SM without having any other apps running.

A quick workaround might be to use ASIO4ALL - I used it to get SM working properly on my netbook; and it might get you better latency than DirectSound too.

Im not that concerned with Latecny at the moment. Im trying to finilize o comp plug for a client and had planned to work from the countryplace. Taken pictures daytime and hacking SM at nights....
I did try ASIO4All yesterday but it didnt quite work for me. Seems that it can only use 44.1 and 48kHz?
After I installed it my project sounded crappy. Like some resampling was occuring and no matter what I tried I couldnt make it better. When I listened to the same music directly from iTunes and not from within SM it sounded perfectly fine.

So I uninstalled ASIO4all and thought that I should use Direct Sound instead.
I can use it at 192khz with iTunes and it works perfect... but not in SM.

Driving me mad.
Are there any other options similar to ASIO4all?

The ALC1200 is a particular mystery - there seem to be no spec's for it anywhere. Even Realtek's own website says that it doesn't exist, but it seems to be a custom chip that only Realtek use - very unhelpful!

Wow. I found the latest drivers on the ASUS site and will try a reinstall tomorrow but after reading
your intel i doubt it will work.

I really like bugs.
I used to feel they were creepy and unreliable but after I started photographing them that changed.
Bugs are incredibly fascinating. They are complex creatures with intricate systems and societies.
Several times / week I find new, to me, species and I feel a bit like Darwin or Linne'.
Its great fun tracking them too. Can be very hard work to get close enough to them to frame their eyebrows
Then there is the other part of this. The hardware. Cant just use any lens to do this.

Back on track.

I think I sort of solved it.
I set the input source of the Realtek audio to Mix and set its samplerate to 96kHz ( or 48kHz) and then set the output samplerate to the same. Now it works but oddly enough the samplerate inside SM reports 44.1kHz....

Im just glad I have sound even if its still a bit odd.
