Cut and Paste

Postby hansdump on Mon Apr 06, 2009 5:29 pm

Hey,

this thing is not very important, but a little bit confusing.

So when you cut any module, and want to paste it at a specific location for example into another module, it would be nice, that the point of pasting is where the mousepointer is located. I think this would be more intuitiv!

Cheers,

Hans.

+1 Bugged me since I started with SM. And it still surprises me that the pasted stuff ends up somewere else and not under my mouse pointer..

...what it does now is keeping the original position and makes a small shift (1 grid point every paste command) to the right and to the bottom...

It's not really a bug and has been requested before a few times but i definately agree. This should have been added when it was first mentioned, i have had some huge projects in the past and then would be scrolling around the area to find something from many modules. It would make copy/cut paste tasks so much simpler.

This mess me up when i started with SM 2!

But after looking for the pasted position after some (more) time i realized that it's in many situations the best how it works now...

Especially when you paste a Knob or other GUI elements into a new identical module:
it sits exactly on the same place as the cut/copied one!

maybe the requested version is activated with a shortcut?

I agree with sunsynth....maybe the best would be to have 2 options:"paste" and "paste in original position".

I think its cool to keep things simple... so an optionmenu would not be the answer in my opinion. Two many options aren´t good for a software.

I like some kind of hidden functions so I think it would be the best to be able to paste modules with pressed shift or alt button and then the module would be pastet at mousepointer location... what do you think of that???

I think the normal default Paste should be paste it under the mouse. Its only in sometimes that you want to paste it in exactly as it looked when you copied it.
