New Release 0.9.5n

We now have the ability to export to a standalone executable as well as to a vst plugin. Direct Sound, MIDI and ASIO support are all built in so if you want a version of your a plugin that works 'host free' then you've got it.

There's also a new feature in this release that allows you to designate a module as Purgeable. This will prevent the module (and any associated links) from being saved when you export. This is very handy if you have parts of your schematic that you don't need to have in the exported version. We've used this in the new Bitmap Knob module to automatically strip out the preview module.

Additions and fixes:

– Adding modules that contain a Preset Parameter or a Preset Parameter Array componenet wasn't synchronising with any Preset Manager that might be present
– Various problems with audio when using two or more Poly to Mono components
– The wrong sampling rate was being used in components like Pitch to Frequency if a schematic was loaded which tried to use an audio device that wasn't present
– Fixed some graphical anomalies when you export VST
– Duplicate MIDI messages were being sent to a host when using an exported plugin
– Fixed a possible crash when undoing certain actions in schematics that uses wireless links
– Fixed a crash that can occur on close when deleting modules from the toolbox
– New export to standalone exe feature
– New purgeable modules feature

New Modules:

– Bitmap Knob

– The compiler no longer requires Poly to Monos to have a direct connection back to a MIDI to Poly
– The Mono to Float no longer needs a physical connection to Direct Sound or ASIO Out in order to work
– Fixed a crash when disconnecting the last link from a selector when there are no links to other lower inputs
– The Mouse Drag component wasn't resetting the x and y values when a left-click is received
– The Selector component wasn't redrawing correctly after deleting components that link to more than one of it's inputs
– The Multiplexer component wasn't restoring type correctly after undo under certain circumstances
– The Wave Display component was not drawing a dot for the last point in the graph
– Fixed a bug in the Pitch to Freq component that could cause crashes or other strange behaviour when you close a schematic and then open another one
– Some components and links were not being hidden when exporting to exe

Updated Release 0.9.5o

We inadvertantly introduced a few problems into the o release. These have been fixed and we've uploaded a new o install. You may not be experiencing any problems. However, we recommend that you re-download and install again.

The corrected problems were:

- possible loss of one channel when using two Poly to Mono components and running connections through a module
- links and connectors still visible in exe exports
- modules using the mouse drag component were not working as before

New Release 0.9.5p

The big addition in this release is voice management. There are two new components to do this: MIDI to Voices and Voices to Poly. The MIDI to Poly module has been updated to use these components and for most people this module is all you'll need.

Of the various bug fixes we have a correction to the two knob problems (out of control and disappearing cursor). We've also updated the file based components to use appropriate default folders and they now support relative paths too.

Additions and fixes:

– New MIDI to Voices and Voices to Poly components for voice management
– MIDI to Poly module has been updated to incorporate voice management and portamento
– The new Graph Dots component was causing a crash when you remove links form the inputs
– The Preset Parameter Array component has a new Graph input for assigning the complete array
– Fixed the problem with intermittent out of control mouse behaviour in the knobs
– The Drag Accumulate components now stop when you drag beyond the max or min (this means that you no longer have to 'retrace your steps' to turn a knob back from one of the extreme positions)
– Tabbing between component labels is now working correctly again
– New option to launch an exported exe on after it is generated
– The Save Text, Load Text and File Dialog component now use the schematic file path or the dll/exe folder by default
– You can now use relative paths in the Save Text, Load Text and File Dialog components
– The File Dialog component has a new input for setting the folder that the dialog starts in
– The default target folder for exported exes now uses your own install folder
– New type options for message box together with a result output. This allows you to have ok/cancel and yes/no dialogs.
– Extra result output on the Wave File component so you can check the status after attempting to load a file
– Size outputs and clear inputs have been added to the Float Int Array components
– Fixed the problem with the mouse cursor disappearing when knobs are stacked on top of drop lists
– Added automatic conversion between Float Arrays/Graphs and Text/String components
– Connecting a Float/String/Int array to an Int will now give you the size of the array

New Components:

– MIDI to Voices
– Voices to Poly

New Release 0.9.5q

The high-level modules have had a complete overhaul in this release. As well as a new look, the knob and slider modules have been redesigned so that the interaction parts are separate from the properties and presets. This means that if you now want to change the look and feel of a knob you just swap one interaction module and the job's done. And of course if you sync a collection of knobs before doing this you can make changes in many places all in one go. There are new modules as well including the promised Wave Draw Oscillator module a Step LFO and bitmap based horizontal and vertical sliders.

Also in this release some updates and fixes to the voice management. We've fixed some bugs that were introduced in the last release affecting exported VSTs and EXEs.

We've reset the 30 day trial so If you have evaluated the software in the past and it has now expired you can give it another try.

Additions and fixes:

– Knobs were not redrawing correctly in exported VSTs and EXEs
– New inputs to MIDI to Voices to allow you to choose what kind of re-triggering and note stealing you require
– Colour switch now doesn't switch if a null colour trigger is received
– Knobs would sometimes go out of control after using the mouse wheel to zoom
– Knobs wouldn't work in exported VSTs or EXEs that were zoomed
– Stopped the install folder error message from appearing when using VSTs and EXEs on a PC where SynthMaker is not installed
– Mouse messages and redraw messages were not passing through the selector
– Notes were hanging when changing preset and using the new MIDI to Poly module
– Notes also hang when recompile while playing
– On the MIDI to Poly module the knob for portamento was inverted
– New Names input to Preset Manager component allows you to update all program names in one go
– File Dialog folder behaviour adjusted so that default is the last folder used. You can connect an empty string to use the folder where the schematic or dll is stored
– Tooltips no longer appear for the module in an exported EXE
– The Preset Parameter Array now accepts changes to the index and value that originate from the same source

Module updates:

– New look to all GUI elements
– New bitmap based Slider modules (both vertical and horizontal)
– New Wave Draw Osc module allows you to draw your own waveforms you can also save and load wave tables to and from text files
– New Step LFO module
– New bitmap based Switch module
– For all knobs and sliders the interaction is now separate from the properties and presets. You can change the behaviour and look by just swapping one module.
– Default and step properties for knobs are now relative to the Min and Max values and not 0-1

New Release 0.9.5r

This release is all about the sound engine. There are many important fixes to the voice management, ADSRs and selectors/multiplexers. The code component should now be much quicker when editing larger blocks of code (you need the 'compile as you type' option switched off in the settings, but this is the default anyway).

Several of the high-level modules have been updated. The Label component now deals much better with fonts across different systems.

Additions and fixes:

– If you had one or more ADSRs with Hold switched on then any ADSRs without Hold would not run their release stage
– Voice management was not re-triggering if an ADSR didn't have Hold switched on
– When using voice management and a short attack on an ADSR the sound could accumulate as successive notes are played
– ADSRs passing through selectors cause notes to hold when switching
– ADSRs connected to more than one selector in a chain prevent the release stage from performing correctly
– The Search box now (just about) fits when the toolbox is only one component wide
– Selectors and Multiplexers in a mono section were not performing a re-link correctly when switching
– The default channel for the Note Event & MIDI Event components is now MIDI channel 1
– A trigger is now sent for the Wave File Mem component after loading
– Typing in the code component is now much faster (providing the update as you type option is switched off)
– The Mono to Float and Mono to Graph components were not relinking correctly when in a mono section
– The Voices to Poly component was not initialising the first channel correctly
– The mechanism which searches for active Poly to Monos wasn't working correctly in certain circumstances causing recompile problems
– The Multiplexer wasn't relinking correctly in a Poly section
– The Poly to Poly Int component was not updating type to the left after loading
– Stage zero was not being run when switching a Selector or Multiplexer in a Mono section
– In the voice management voices were not being cleared when switching ASIO or Direct sound Out on/off leaving stuck notes
– Loss of sound when switching a selector that feeds into poly sections that link to separate Poly to Monos
– The Graph switch component crashes if you have nothing connected to the inputs and then try to make a link from the output
– Fixed denormals in the 2P2Z Low Pass Filter component
– GUIs are now much more responsive in exported VSTs
– Notes were left hanging if changing the number of voices while playing
– The Index Selector component now has a String input for setting the current selection
– Label module and all switch labels have been updated so that the selected font is referenced by name
– The reverb module has been updated to include sambean's optimisations
– The Wave Draw Osc module has been updated for faster drawing updates & the property labels have also been made clearer

New Release 0.9.5s

There are 3 main highlights to this release. First there's a new component for saving and loading preset data to and from text files. This provides a very flexible mechanism for manipulating preset data.

There are more fixes to the voice management, the key one being a 'stuck notes' problem that many of you were experiencing.

Finally, streams now work through buses. You can now make changes to the bus channel names and the schematic will automatically relink. This now makes it possible to implement the matrix routing solution that some of you had been attempting and there are some new modules in the toolbox to demonstrate this.

Additions and fixes:

– New Preset Text File component for saving and restoring preset data, now fully integrated with Preset Manager module
– Switching a Multiplexer or Selector in a mono section was not initiating a relink correctly resulting no sound
– The voice management was holding notes when playing quickly one after the another
– Streams now work through buses
– Buses now work with streams through wireless links
– Adding, moving or deleting links between bus connectors was not forcing a recompile
– Front panel drawing order changes were not syncing correctly causing crashes in some cases
– The Index Selector was redrawing even when when it's parent module schematic wasn't visible
– The whole vst front panel was redrawing in some exported VSTs even when the plugin window was hidden
– Fixed a crash if invalid MIDI message are sent to MIDI Out
– The MIDI Event component wasn't using the correct input channel
– The Gui Drop List wasn't updating strings until after load all
– Adding an ASIO In component would sometimes cause a background hiss to be heard even when no ASIO Out was present
– The software wasn't fully closing ASIO correctly on exit
– ASIO In wasn't enabling channels 3 and upward
– The level meter module has been updated and added back into the toolbox
– Updated the Preset Manager module with a trigger blocker to stop preset changes being made twice
– New 'C' shortcut key for the code component
– New filename input to the File Dialog component
– Fixed some edge graphical glitches notcieable when moving knobs on selected modules when zoomed ont
– Removed some superfluous fill modules from the Rectangle module
– Added before and after preset change triggers to the Preset Manager component to allow you to handle preset changes more efficiently

New Components:

– Preset Text File

New Modules:

– Menu
– Matrix Source
– Matrix Target
– Routing Matrix
– Poly Readout
– Mono Readout

– The preset parameter list was not being constructed correctly (was using automation params only)
– New 'Host is Playing' output on the VST Timing Info component allows you to respond to host transport changes
– Vastly improved fxp/b saving and loading in hosts - plugins were visibly cycling through presets
– New automation recording input to preset components allows you to determine when automation info is sent to host
– Preset parameters were not being ordered correctly in exported VSTs resulting in controls being seemingly paired together
– Exported plugins were crashing immediately in some hosts
– Exported plugins were not being recognised in hosts like Audition and Sound Forge
– Sample rate was not being set correctly when used in some hosts, Wave Lab in particular
– All note off handling was not working with voice management causing held notes when play stops in Ableton Live
– Popup menus stacking options instead of just scrolling
– Wireless links were being blocked by a comparable Module Wireless Out
– The Int Array component had a String Array output

New Release 0.9.5v

It’s been requested many times and now it’s here: support for 24 bit wave files. Keeping on the wave file theme we have two components that use a new Wave Array data type. You can load up samples into the new Wave File Array component and then play them back using the new Wave Array Read component. These components make it much easier to make efficient sample players.

The existing Wave Read Mono and Wave Read Stereo components have been replaced with a single component that will read both mono and stereo waves. Shematics that use the old components will still load and work so this change won’t affect your existing work.

We've added some restrictions to stop you from creating links that the software does not handle. For example, if you try and connect a MIDI connector to a Stream connector now the software will indicate that this is not permitted and prevent the link from being created. In addition, the software will prevent you from creating links that would put an Analyser in the same signal path as a MIDI to Poly/Poly to Mono combination. This is not allowed and up until now if you tried it the software would have crashed.

Additions and fixes:

– Support for 24 bit wave files
– New Wave File Array and Wave Array Read components
– Enhanced the Wave Read component so that is now can detect whether a mono or stereo wave is fed into it and process it accordingly
– Fixed the problem in FL Studio that was causing PC keyboard MIDI input to be lost after interacting with a SynthMaker made plugin
– Bitmaps were being displayed at the incorrect size when an exported plugin was used on a PC with SynthMaker istalled but using a different zoom level from the originator
– Vertical and Vector sliders have been updated to remove redundant components and increase efficiency
– Corrected the problem with plugins when used in hosts like WaveLab wehere preset data was being reset to saved values
– The Format String component was crashing or giving an incorrect result when using letters x, n or f at the beginning of the format specification
– The ADSR was not allowing param changes when replaying or stealing a note until after the release phase was complete
– Preset parameters set up for automation only were not being included in the parameter list for an exported plugin
– New mechanism for preventing illegal links from being created

New Components:

– Wave File Array
– Wave Array Read

New Release 0.9.5w

We've added the ability to supply delay compensation to a host in your exported plugins. You also now have the option to store compiled code for both SSE and SSE2 PCs in your plugins and schematics. This saves the software from having to convert the code on loading greatly increasing the startup time in some cases.

Additions and fixes:

– Delay compensation for VST plugins
– Program changes now only re-link instead of performing a full recompile
– New option to export multi VSTs, EXEs and schematics with code for SSE and SSE2 compatible PCs
– New progress dialogs for exporting, loading and saving with option to cancel
– Fixed a bug in the infinite loop code that was causing links to be incorrectly shown as frozen
– Links between template connectors are now permitted
– Delay compensation for VST plugins
– Removed the 100000 limit for the number of entries allowed on a Graph Create component
– Fixed the Mouse Drag bug which was holding the drag when you right-click

– New progress dialogs for exporting, loading and saving with option to cancel
– Removed unnecessary code from the Step LFO and replaced some old modules with primitives
– Fixed the problem in the WaveDraw module that was preventing the wave data from saving to a text file

New Components:

– Delay Compensation

New Release 0.9.5w.1

This is just a small update to correct a problem in the code that resticts what kind of links you can make. The code checks whether the link you're trying to make would put a Signal Analyser in the same path as a Poly to Mono (which is not allowed). It was incorrectly finding such situations when they didn't exist.
