GPU/OpenCL support

Postby infuzion on Mon Nov 07, 2011 6:02 am

Now with cheap yet crazy-fast GPUs, GPU & CPU on same die, & PCI Express 3.0 arriving, some of the roadblocks (slower GPU-memory to CPU-memory transfers) are being lessened I imagine. CUDA & other GPU libs are being used frequently for big number-crunching. Not so much for audio yet, but I know if the tools were readily available...

With FlowStone2 supporting API calls, what GPU lib(s) should SM be pre-configured to run with? Or should there be an GPGPU editor? GPU-ASM primitive?
See also the See Also here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPGPU

Or perhaps best bet is OpenCL? http://www.khronos.org/opencl/

(Yes there was a CUDA thread before, but this is for general GPU support)

I believe it is already difficult as it is based on those libraries O:)
